| does anyone remember those days in school when the teacher decided that a poorly done video of a dorky guy speaking to a small group of people was better than teaching the information himself?? God, i hate video day.... .....except last week...Bill Hybels speaking on leadership is always good.... .....however, a dorky, horrible public speaker who is reminiscent of a cross between Charles Stanley and Jim Bakker is never good... Chapel was good/horrible today....worship got wonderful and then the speaker spoke to us like we were slow adolescents....i got taken from the Brownsville Revival to 7th-grade bible class....suckety-suck-suck....Roman and i laughed and made fun of the speaker...which i think i should feel bad about since the speaker was Lindsay Roberts...oh well.... this guy on the video is reading directly from the manual he gave everyone in the "class" and that i have in front of me....kill me, kill me now!!! | | |
| Carrie: Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what
would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we
wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all,
seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go.
But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart.
And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.
Carrie: Think about it. If you are single, after graduation there isn't
one occasion where people celebrate you ... Hallmark doesn't make a
"congratulations, you didn't marry the wrong guy" card. And where's the
flatware for going on vacation alone?
Carrie: It's hard to find people who will love you no matter what. I found three of them.
Carrie: You have to figure ... if the world's fattest twins can find
love, there's hope for all of us. Somewhere out there is another little
freak who will love us, understand us, and kiss our 3 heads and make it
all better.
Miranda: Smart, yes, sometimes cute, but never sexy. Sexy is the thing
I try to get them to see me as after I win them over with my
personality.
Carrie: You win men over with your personality?
Carrie: Today I had a thought ... what if I'd never met you?

| I love love love vacation! Instead of just sitting on my butt at home i decided to take a real vacation to give myself a break between work and school starting up again. I left early early Thursday morning for New Yrok City (i was supposed to leave Wednesday night, its a long story and this post is gonna be long enough on its own so ask if you really want to know) where Laura met me (which is a whole long story in and of itself). I spent the next couple of days hanging out in museums, Central Park, and a couple of theatres. Oh, by the way, i won lottery tickets to see Wicked...which means that Laura and i only had to pay $25 for front row seats!!!!!! It was amazing...the show had a couple of understudies that night but you couldnt tell by their performance.
I did discover one interesting thing -- the lower- to middle-class areas of big cities are much the same the world over...it was amazing how much Laura's neighborhood and apartment reminded me of places i had experienced in Russia.
I left this afternoon for Rochester, NY, to spend a few days with my brother David and his wife Denise. I am in their newly almost-finished guest room in their very humble house (which i had never seen in person until today). I could never live in this house in the condition its in today...and they've done a lot to it to get into this good of shape.
Something else i've observed -- its so funny how when you've known someone for years (like a family member or old friend) but havent seen them in a long time, you kinda forget what they look like, or rather, you have this notion of how they should look. The thing is that sometimes they look just like you thought they would (aka like they always have) but more often than not, they have gained or lost weight, changed their hair, or done some drastic renovation of their wardrobe. I guess what i'm saying is that it's interesting to watch people grow up...to see them grow old before your very eyes.
Wednesday i leave for Orlando to see Lana...woohoo for getting to hang with a great friend in Florida!!! I have another full week of vacation before i head back to Tulsa...yea for not having to work!!! School starts the week i get back so this really is the last hurrah until...God knows when!!
